Monitoring of high-value assets such as ship's cargo for container track & trace applications requires a GPS device with a rugged, waterproof housing & long battery life. There are two options for hardware, either a GPRS tracker using a roaming SIM card, or a Satellite Tracker.
GPRS devices such as the DQ50 Asset tracker transmit live ship tracki
ng Lat/Long co-ordinates when moving, but also log positions when out of cell range for complete tracking history. As the cargo container generally does not need to be located when the host ship is in mid-ocean, storing & forwarding trip data using GPRS is a very cost-effective way to monitor large numbers of assets & still retain trip statistics for further analysis. Adaptive interval tracking ensures a long service life of up to 5 years at one report per day, while using GPS & Glonass positioning systems together gives fast, accurate fixes. DQ50 can be used for container track & trace applications, or as a vessel tracker for boats without power, providing exceptionally low-cost monitoring with maximum GPS accuracy.
A new addition to our range is the DQ51 Asset Tracker which provides an even longer service life up to 10 years, 
with the option of monitoring nearby equipment with Bluetooth wireless tags.
The DQ80 satellite tracker is a self-contained satellite tracker & can be hard-wired (8-22 volts) to ships of any size for use as a vessel finder or 'live' ship tracking.
It also has two external inputs which can be used monitor door openings or
engine hours when connected. Alternatively the DQ80 can be easily configured for non-powered assets using its internal batteries. Because it uses 'simplex' or one-way messaging, the satelllite data costs are much lower than other duplex satellite systems & allow for standard tracking intervals of 5 minutes when in motion.
The DQ80 tracking intervals can also be set to provide long battery life for your application, with daily status updates & comprehensive movement reporting.
